Whether you are building a complete wireless network, or adding wireless to an existing wired network, wireless brings with it special challenges. Well-publicized stories about "war driving" and other techniques through which hackers can easily infiltrate a wireless network have raised awareness of the problem--and the need for a solution.

Total Security Solutions

SonicWALL's total security solution integrates 802.11a/b/g wireless with an enterprise-class firewall gateway appliance. As a result, your wireless network is just as secure as the wired network in every way.

Wireless Access Solution

There are two main components to a SonicWALL wireless access solution: SonicWALL TZ 170 or PRO Series appliances and SonicWALL SonicPoints. The SonicWALL TZ 170 and PRO Series appliances provide wireless access and can also function as a secure wireless switch, and SonicWALL SonicPoints function as access points, and enforce all security policies. There is no need for a separate wireless appliance at the perimeter. Because wireless access is delivered as part of your SonicWALL firewall gateway appliance, your wireless network enjoys the same protection as the rest of your network, with Unified Threat Management, gateway anti-virus, anti-spyware and intrusion prevention, and content filtering services. In addition, you will also be able to deploy Wireless Guest Services throughout the network, and uninterrupted roaming between SonicPoints.

Centralized Management and Reporting

Your wireless network has the same access to centralized management and reporting as the rest of your network. All SonicPoints can be managed and configured from the SonicWALL appliance's Global Management System (GMS) interface. Additionally, security policies for both wired and wireless networks can be managed from that same interface. The SonicPoints are plug-and-play and provisioned automatically. And because they can be deployed throughout any network, your wireless network is highly scalable and can grow with your needs. All you need to do is add more SonicPoints as required.

Smaller Networks and Home Offices

For smaller networks or home offices, the TZ 150 and TZ 170 Series are complete solutions that integrate wireless access with the same deep packet inspection firewall with integrated gateway protection. TZ 150 comes with SonicOS Standard, which offers a set of easy to use wizards and a streamlined Web GUI. The SonicOS Enhanced option, available in the SonicWALL TZ 170 and TZ 190, offers additional features, such as the ability to configure one of the ports as a workport for telecommuters, a second network, or custom defined zone.
